(Updated) New Microsoft Outlook for Windows is GA on August 1, 2024Category:Exchange Online Microsoft 365 appsNummer:MC810420Status:planForChange | Updated July 15, 2024: We have updated the content below to show as intended. Thank you for your patience. On August 1, 2024, the new Microsoft Outlook for Windows will transition from the Preview phase to General Availability for commercial accounts. This milestone will not affect existing users who continue to use classic Outlook for Windows; however, GA status helps organizations move forward with their migration plans. A future announcement will cover General Availability for US Government clouds (GCC, GCC High, and DoD) and availability in other sovereign clouds. The new Outlook continues to be an opt-in experience. Please note that this update does not change any settings for your organization, will not automatically switch users from the classic version of Outlook for Windows, and will not introduce any disruptive changes. We will provide a 12-month notice prior to initiating any Microsoft-driven migration steps in managed environments. Updates released on or after this date will move all Windows domain controllers and clients in the environment to Enforced mode, enforcing the secure behavior by default. The Enforced by Default settings can be overridden by an Administrator to revert to Compatibility mode. When will this happen:
How this will affect your organization: To mitigate vulnerabilities described in CVE-2024-26248 and CVE-2024-29056, you must make sure your entire Windows environment (including both domain controllers and clients) is updated. Environments that are not updated will not recognize this new request structure after Enforcement mode begins. This will cause the security check to fail. What you need to do to prepare: To help protect your environment and prevent outages, we recommend the following steps:

Introducing Windows 11 checkpoint cumulative updatesCategory:WindowsNummer:MC814499Status:stayInformed | In late 2024, checkpoint cumulative updates will be introduced for devices running Windows 11, version 24H2 or later and Windows Server 2025. This means that updating your Windows devices will involve smaller update files, resulting in a quicker and more efficient update experience. You will begin to receive checkpoint cumulative updates automatically, with no action required from you. Today, you can preview this experience in Windows Insider’s Preview Build 26120.1252 (Dev Channel). Read more in Introducing Windows 11 checkpoint cumulative updates. When will this happen: This optimization will become available in the second half of 2024. The preview of this experience is available today in Windows Insider’s Preview Build 26120.1252 (Dev Channel). How this will affect your organization: This optimization will allow you to get features and security enhancements via the latest cumulative update through smaller, incremental differentials containing only the changes since the previous checkpoint cumulative update. This means that you can save time, bandwidth, and hard drive space. As Microsoft periodically releases cumulative updates as checkpoints, the subsequent updates will consist of:
What you need to do to prepare: You will need to download the Windows 11, version 24H2 update when it becomes available in late 2024. It will be available as a traditional feature update to all devices.
