Microsoft Viva Engage: New features for Microsoft 365 Copilot adoption communityCategory:Microsoft VivaNummer:MC971030Status:stayInformed | Coming soon to the Microsoft Viva Engage adoption community for Microsoft 365 Copilot, users will receive recommendations of similar questions and answers when composing a question, leveraging the collective knowledge of the Copilot topic across all of Engage to help them find what they’re looking for faster. Additionally, admins will have the ability to remove adoption features from the existing community and apply them to a new or different community. Since general availability in August 2024 (referenced in MC7841560), network admins and corporate communicators can enable a new type of community specifically built to facilitate the rollout and adoption of Copilot in their organizations. This community can bring employees together in a community of practice where employees can ask questions, seek support from both their peers and IT admins, share best practices, and learn more from articles and quick tips on how best to use Copilot. [When this will happen:] General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out early January 2025 and expect to complete by early February 2025. [How this will affect your organization:] When composing a question in the Copilot adoption community, users will soon have access to a new feature that provides a list of recommended similar questions that have been asked and answered across all of Viva Engage. Users will soon be able to quickly navigate to existing answers, contribute to recommended questions, or post a new question, leveraging the collective knowledge across their network to find information faster and more efficiently. Admins who want to remove adoption features from the existing community and apply them to a new or different community can do so by navigating to the ellipses (…) menu on the right side of the community header and selecting Unmark Copilot community. This action will remove all adoption features, including suggested content, suggested members, and the setup checklist, while retaining all other content. This update is available by default. [What you need to do to prepare:] There is no required action for admins before the rollout. If your organization is working on rollout and adoption of Copilot, we recommend reading the support documentation to learn more about this new capability in Viva Engage and connecting with the Copilot change managers in your organization to include this in your rollout and adoption change management plan. Microsoft Teams: New transcription policies for town halls and webinarsCategory:Microsoft TeamsNummer:MC971031Status:planForChange | Before this rollout, for a Microsoft Teams town hall or webinar, the transcription behavior respects the current Teams meeting transcription policies. [When this will happen:] General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): We will begin rolling out mid-February 2025 and expect to complete by late February 2025. [How this will affect your organization:] These new transcription policies for webinars and town halls will determine whether transcription is allowed for a town hall or webinar. Town halls and webinars will no longer respect the Teams Meeting transcription policies. The new policies will be available by default for admins to configure. [What you need to do to prepare:] Before the rollout, we encourage you to use PowerShell commands to update the default values of the transcription policies for webinars and town halls. After the rollout, you can use Teams admin center or PowerShell commands to update the values. Examples of PowerShell commands to set the town hall or webinar policy:

Microsoft Teams: SMS for calling plansCategory:Microsoft TeamsNummer:MC971033Status:stayInformed | Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: We will roll out SMS chat in calling plans for customers in the United States and Canada. This capability would enable customers to send and receive SMS natively in Teams. This message applies to Teams for Windows desktop, Teams for Mac desktop, and Teams for iOS/Android. Microsoft Purview | Data Lifecycle Management: New secure workflow to bypass legal holds and retention policiesCategory:Microsoft PurviewNummer:MC971035Status:planForChange | This new feature enables data governance administrators to expedite the permanent deletion of sensitive content from Microsoft Exchange mailboxes, overriding any existing retention settings or eDiscovery holds. This process may be required for security or privacy, such as after a data spillage incident or for compliance and regulatory requirements. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 392838. [When this will happen:] Public Preview: We will begin rolling out early February 2025 and expect to complete by mid-February 2025. [How this will affect your organization:] Priority Cleanup administrators can now set up a Priority Cleanup policy for Exchange to create exceptions to retention principles and e-Discovery holds for specific scenarios. Once administrators are within the Data Lifecycle Management (DLM) Solution on Microsoft Purview, they can visit the Priority Cleanup tab and follow the wizard to set-up this policy. Like auto-apply retention labels, Priority Cleanup supports policy simulation mode, so administrators can check the returned samples in case the policy configuration needs any fine-tuning before enabling the policy. Once set-up, because the deletion by a priority cleanup policy is irreversible and can override existing holds, the process requires multiple approvals, specific roles, and is audited. Thus, respective reviewers must be mandatorily added during policy creation to allow for disposition of items under a retention or e-Discovery hold. [What you need to do to prepare:] Because of the built-in safeguards, the feature itself is enabled by default at the tenant level. However, Priority Cleanup can be turned off on the Priority Cleanup settings page. If you can’t create new Priority Cleanup policies, refer to your Data Lifecycle Management documentation for necessary roles and permissions requirements. A new role permission “Priority cleanup administrator” is now added to Purview role permissions to enable data governance administrators to use this feature. |
