(Updated) Microsoft Teams: Enhanced peripheral data in Pro Management portal reports for BYOD spaces
Category:Microsoft Teams
Nummer:MC1090689
Status:planForChange

Updated January 16, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

We’re adding new peripheral health reporting capabilities to the Pro Management portal, enabling admins to proactively monitor device issues in bring your own device (BYOD) rooms and desks.

These reports help identify when peripherals are faulty, missing, moved, or undetectable by a PC—allowing admins to take action before users report problems. Reports for rooms require a Teams Shared Devices license. Desk reporting is currently in public preview.

This change is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID: 493319

[When this will happen:]

General Availability (Worldwide and GCC): Rollout will begin in early April 2026 (previously late February) and is expected to complete by mid-April 2026 (previously early March).

[How this affects your organization:]

Admins can now use peripheral status data to detect hardware issues in BYOD rooms and desks before they impact users. This proactive monitoring can reduce support tickets and improve meeting space reliability.

  • Reports for rooms require a Teams Shared Devices license.
  • Reports for desks are available in public preview and do not yet require a license.

[What you can do to prepare:]

To ensure accurate peripheral status reporting:

  • Use multiple peripherals in each room or desk setup. The system compares expected device pairings (e.g., if Peripheral A and B are usually connected together, but A is missing, it will be flagged).
  • Simplify connectivity for users by using a single cable solution to connect all peripherals.
  • Ensure rooms and desks are bookable and have associated peripherals—this enables the Teams desktop client to send the necessary telemetry. Peripheral association can be done manually or automatically.

[Compliance considerations:]

  • Does the change alter how existing customer data is processed, stored, or accessed? Maybe (device telemetry is used for reporting)

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights- Data – Select appropriate field values from a list when working with segments conditions
      Category:Dynamics 365 Apps
      Nummer:MC1218646
      Status:stayInformed
We are announcing the ability to easily select appropriate field values from a list when working with segments conditions in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Data. This feature will reach general availability on February 13, 2026.

      How does this affect me?
This feature allows you to select from a list of valid display names for field values, eliminating the need to enter obscure codes, or keep track of what data values are expected for each field. Choice fields are presented as a list of Name (value) choices in Customer Insights – Data. Key capabilities of this feature include:
      • Dataverse Choice fields: The Choice field is a common data type in Dataverse which is similar to a picklist or enumeration. Dataverse choice fields can generally be identified by the ‘code’ suffix Dataverse adds to the display name of the column, such as gendercode. Instead of having to enter a numeric code for fields, Choice fields are now shown as a list of choice names and their code, such as: GenderCode * Male (1) * Female (2).
      • Numeric and String fields: Numeric and string fields are analyzed and if there are < 200 distinct values, the distinct values will be displayed in a dropdown combo box allowing you to select from the existing distinct values or to enter a different value. For performance, we will sample the first 10,000 rows from a data lake for distinct values.

Initial deployment phase for Kerberos RC4 hardening begins with the January 2026 Windows security update
      Category:Windows
      Nummer:MC1218691
      Status:stayInformed
Windows updates released on and after January 13, 2026, introduce the first phase of protections addressing a Kerberos information disclosure vulnerability (CVE‑2026‑20833). These updates introduce new auditing and optional registry controls that devices can use to begin reducing reliance on RC4 encryption. They also help prepare domain controllers for a future shift to AES‑SHA1 as the default Kerberos encryption method for accounts without explicit encryption settings. The initial deployment phase focuses on identifying misconfigurations or dependencies before the second deployment phase begins in April 2026.

      When this will happen:
The initial deployment phase starts January 13, 2026, and introduces new Kerberos audit events that help identify any remaining RC4 dependencies across your environment. This phase also adds the temporary RC4DefaultDisablementPhase registry value, which organizations can use to optionally enable the upcoming behavior changes early; however, this key will no longer be read after Audit mode is removed in July 2026. Together, these updates provide early diagnostics to help assess readiness before the second deployment phase in April 2026, when the default domain controller behavior for Kerberos encryption will change to use AES‑SHA1 only for accounts without explicit encryption settings. Starting in April 2026, Enforcement mode will be enabled on all Windows domain controllers by default, and in July 2026 Audit mode will be removed, leaving Enforcement mode as the only option.

How this will affect your organization:
Domain controllers will begin logging new Kerberos audit events, KDCSVC (ID 201–209), that highlight where devices or service accounts still rely on RC4 encryption. Certain RC4‑dependent configurations will appear in the new Kerberos audit events, highlighting scenarios that will become incompatible once enforcement begins. These events provide early visibility into configurations that may fail as Enforcement mode is enabled by default starting in April 2026 and Audit mode is removed in July 2026.

As the deployment phases progress, beginning with the April 2026 Windows security update, Kerberos operations will shift to using AES‑SHA1 by default for accounts without explicit encryption settings. Environments that do not address RC4 dependencies may experience authentication issues as Enforcement mode is enabled by default starting in April 2026 and Audit mode is removed in July 2026. Organizations with secure configurations or without RC4 usage should see minimal impact aside from routine audit visibility during the transition period.

What you need to do to prepare:
Begin by installing Windows updates released on or after January 13, 2026, on all Active Directory domain controllers. After updating, monitor the System event logs for the new Kerberos audit events that indicate whether any devices or service accounts still rely on RC4-based encryption. If no events appear, you can proactively move your domain controllers to Enforcement mode by using the Registry settings. If events do appear, you will need to address or explicitly configure any remaining RC4 dependencies before enforcement takes effect.

Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention | Enforcement plane rename from Entra to Application
      Category:Microsoft Purview
      Nummer:MC1218710
      Status:stayInformed

      [Introduction]

We are updating the Enforcement plane terminology in Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Collection Policies. The Enforcement plane identifies the application or environment where a DLP policy is evaluated and enforced, indicating where user actions are inspected and where policy outcomes—such as blocking, replacing, or auditing—are applied. Because policy enforcement happens on the application where activity occurs, we are renaming the Enforcement plane from Entra to Application. This update aligns terminology with how policies function and clarifies that enforcement applies across both AI and non‑AI applications.

      [When this will happen:]

General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout begins mid-January 2026 and is expected to complete by mid-February 2026.

      [How this affects your organization:]

      Who is affected:

      • Admins who manage Microsoft Purview DLP or Collection Policies
      • Organizations using Purview audit logs or DLP cmdlets

      What will happen:

      • The Enforcement plane value will change from Entra to Application across product experiences.
      • New audit logs will show the updated Application value; existing logs will retain the prior Entra value.
      • user settings

      • There are no functional changes to DLP policy behavior.
      • There is no user impact.

[What you can do to prepare:]

      • No action is required for user experience or policy behavior.
      • If you use cmdlets, update scripts to reference Application instead of Entra.
      • Update internal documentation or training materials that reference the previous terminology.
