Updated June 9, 2026: We have updated the timeline and content. Thank you for your patience.

[Introduction]

Microsoft is introducing Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat within Microsoft Forms, along with a new Forms Agent integration tailored to help creators design, distribute, and analyze forms more effectively. This update streamlines form creation and insights by providing AI-driven suggestions, improvements, and analysis.

The Copilot refinement bar and Copilot insights summary on the Forms results page will be replaced by the new Copilot dynamic action button.

This message is associated with Roadmap ID 553136.

Microsoft Purview | Data Lifecycle Management – Hard delete OneDrive and SharePoint files with priority cleanup workflow
Category:Microsoft Purview
Nummer:MC1261587
Status:planForChange

Updated June 10, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

[Introduction]

We are introducing a new priority cleanup workflow in Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management that allows administrators to permanently delete (hard delete) specific OneDrive and SharePoint content types, even when retention policies or holds are in place. This capability helps reduce data exposure risk from rapidly growing Copilot-related content while maintaining compliance through required eDiscovery admin review and approval.

This change is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 558343.

[When this will happen:]

Public Preview: We will begin rolling out mid-July 2026 and expect to complete by late July 2026.

General Availability (Worldwide) Rollout begins early September 2026 (previously late May) and is expected to complete by mid-September 2026 (previously mid-June).

[How this affects your organization:]

Who is affected:

  • Microsoft 365 administrators managing Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management
  • Organizations using OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online with retention policies or holds

What will happen:

  • Admins can create a priority cleanup policy targeting specific content types in OneDrive and SharePoint.
  • A new Delete data permanently option enables hard deletion of targeted items.
  • user settings

  • Content deleted through this workflow is fully removed and is no longer discoverable in:
    • SharePoint search
    • Copilot experiences
    • eDiscovery (after required approval)
  • For content under hold, eDiscovery admin review and approval is required before deletion.
  • This capability is not enabled by default and requires explicit admin configuration.
  • There is no change to user workflows unless an admin configures and applies a priority cleanup policy.

[What you can do to prepare:]

  • Review your organization’s data risk and retention strategy, especially for Copilot-generated content such as Teams transcripts.
  • In Microsoft Purview, plan and configure a priority cleanup policy if permanent deletion is required for specific content types:
    • Navigate to Microsoft Purview portal > Data Lifecycle Management > Priority cleanup.
    • Create a new policy and select Delete data permanently in the policy settings.
  • Ensure appropriate eDiscovery admin roles and approval processes are in place for content under hold.
  • Update internal governance or compliance documentation to reflect this new deletion capability.

Learn more: Compare types of groups in Microsoft 365 – Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

[Compliance considerations:]

Compliance area Explanation
Alteration of existing customer data processing This change introduces a priority cleanup workflow that allows permanent deletion of specific OneDrive and SharePoint content types, even when retention policies or holds exist, subject to required approval.
eDiscovery or Content Search Content deleted through the priority cleanup workflow is fully removed and no longer discoverable in eDiscovery or Content Search after eDiscovery admin review and approval for items under hold.
Retention policies, holds, or deletion workflows Adds a new admin-controlled deletion workflow that can override standard retention outcomes through an approved hard-delete process.
Admin controls and compliance monitoring The feature is managed by administrators in Microsoft Purview and includes review and approval steps that support compliance oversight and auditing.
(Updated) Microsoft Teams: AI meeting recap without transcript to meet compliance policies
Category:Microsoft Teams Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365)
Nummer:MC1275312
Status:planForChange

Updated June 10, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

[Introduction]

Recap without saving transcript provides an alternative now for Copilot users to generate a meeting summary using live meeting context, in case where saving a meeting transcript or recording is not preferred or allowed.

This capability is intended for scenarios where organizations want AI‑generated recaps but have policies that limit or prohibit the retention of transcripts or recordings. When disabled, no AI recap is generated. Existing Copilot licensing and tenant‑level AI controls continue to apply.

This feature will be available to users with an M365 Copilot (Premium) license across platforms, including desktop (Windows and Mac), web, and mobile.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 558286.

[When this will happen:]

  • Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out mid-August 2026 (previously early July) and expect to complete by late August 2026 (previously mid-July).
  • General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out late August 2026 (previously late July) and expect to complete by late September 2026 (previously mid-August).

[How this affects your organization:]

Who is affected:

  • Microsoft Teams meeting organizers and participants with an M365 Copilot (Premium) license
  • Microsoft 365 administrators managing Copilot and AI controls

What will happen:

  • Teams admin center – Tenant admins will have control to opt in or out for AI features (e.g. Copilot, Intelligent Recap) for the meeting under the tenant. This feature is controlled by AI toggle/setting in the admin center. If AI is disabled at the tenant level, this experience is not available.
  • Meeting options (before meeting) – Meeting organizers with a Copilot license can enable or disable Recap without saving transcript in meeting options under Copilot and other AI before the meeting
  • In-Meeting controls (during meeting) – Meeting organizers with a Copilot license can enable or disable Recap without saving transcript anytime during the meeting via the AI toggle (appears at top-left). Participants can see whether AI is being turned on/off, while participants cannot change this setting.
  • Post-meeting AI summary – When enabled, Intelligent Recap will generate an AI summary even if recording and transcription are not turned on. Meeting attendees with Copilot license can view the AI summary after the meeting. No transcript or recording is saved as part of this experience.
  • Storage – When enabled, a doc will be stored in organizer’s OneDrive for default 120days, and it will be configurable in admin center for longer/shorter days as needed.
  • Deletion – For post-meeting AI summary, organizer can choose to delete the content from the Recap page, and it will result in the deletion of the doc in organizer’s OneDrive, and vice versa.

[What you can do to prepare:]

  • Review your organization’s AI and Copilot governance policies to determine whether this experience aligns with your compliance posture.
  • If you want to opt out, disable the AI toggle in your tenant settings to prevent Recap without saving transcript from being used.
  • Update internal guidance and helpdesk documentation to reflect that meeting recaps may be generated without recordings or transcripts.
  • Communicate this change to meeting organizers, especially in regulated environments.

[Compliance considerations:]

Compliance area Explanation
AI/ML interaction with customer data Copilot generates AI-based meeting recaps using live meeting context even when recording and transcription are not enabled. No meeting transcript or recording is saved.
New way for users to interact with generative AI Users can receive AI-generated Intelligent Recap without starting or saving a meeting recording or transcript.
Admin controls availableThis capability is governed by the existing tenant-level AI toggle. Disabling AI prevents Recap without saving transcript from being used.
User enable/disable capability Meeting organizers can enable or disable the feature before the meeting, and organizers or participants with Copilot licenses can toggle it during the meeting.

Microsoft 365: Organizational Data – Granular access policy controls for custom attributes
Category:Microsoft 365 suite
Nummer:MC1385586
Status:stayInformed

[What and Why:]

We’re introducing enhanced access policy controls for Organizational Data custom attributes in Microsoft 365. This update provides administrators with more granular control over how and when new organizational attributes are shared. Admins can limit release to a few selected users using the new Staging policy and can better manage access to non-public data shared with Workforce Insights delegates. This change supports stronger data governance while enabling controlled sharing of new attributes.

This message is associated with Roadmap ID 564805.

[Rollout Schedule:]

  • Public Preview (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in mid-June 2026 and expect to complete by mid-July 2026.
  • General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in mid-July 2026 and expect to complete by early August 2026.

[Impact on Your Organization:]

Who is affected: Microsoft 365 administrators managing access policies in Organizational Data for Microsoft 365.

Platforms/Services:

  • Microsoft 365
  • Organizational Data in Microsoft 365
  • Workforce Insights

What will happen:

  • New granular access controls for custom organizational attributes.
  • Admins can:
    • Release new attributes to selected users or groups instead of the entire organization or all managers.
    • Control whether leaders can share non-public data with Workforce Insights delegates.
  • Existing policies are unchanged.
  • New attributes default to not shared until explicitly configured.
  • No user impact unless enabled by admin.

[Action Required / Recommendations:]

No action is required to maintain current behavior.

Admins may optionally:

  • Customize the Staging policy for upcoming custom non-public attributes.
  • Update Organizational Data access policies to take advantage of the new granular controls.
  • Communicate internally with data owners or analytics teams about the new policy options.

[Compliance Considerations:]

Admin control via policy is impacted due to the introduction of new access controls for Organizational Data custom attributes. No other compliance considerations were identified.

Microsoft Purview | Data Loss Prevention – Enriched Audit Data for Matched Rules in Exchange Online
Category:Microsoft Purview
Nummer:MC1385588
Status:stayInformed

[What and Why:]

We are enhancing Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) audit data for Exchange Online by adding enriched matched condition details whenever a DLP rule is triggered. Previously, audit records primarily surfaced sensitive information type (SIT) matches. With this update, audit records now include all contributing rule conditions, including non-SIT conditions such as sender and recipient attributes, attachment properties, subject keywords, and message metadata.

This change aligns with Microsoft’s enterprise-ready security and compliance commitments. It provides clearer insight into why a DLP rule was triggered without requiring manual cross-referencing of policy configurations and audit logs.

This message is associated with Roadmap ID 562051.

[Rollout Schedule:]

  • General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout begins late June 2026 and is expected to complete by late July 2026.

[Impact on Your Organization:]

Who is affected:

  • Administrators managing Microsoft Purview DLP policies scoped to Exchange Online
  • Security and compliance teams reviewing DLP alerts, audit logs, or Activity Explorer data

Platforms/Services:

  • Microsoft Purview
  • Exchange Online
  • Unified Audit Log
  • Activity Explorer
  • DLP Alerts and user notifications

What will happen:

  • When a DLP rule in Exchange Online matches content, audit records will include enriched matched condition data for all contributing conditions.
  • The enriched data includes the condition name, matched value, and the source that produced the match.
  • This information appears in DLP Alerts, Activity Explorer, the Unified Audit Log, and user notifications where applicable.
  • The feature is enabled by default.
  • No configuration changes or policy updates are required.
  • DLP enforcement behavior is unchanged.

Supported conditions and example output:

  • Matched value: The specific value that satisfied the condition (for example, “contoso.com”).
  • Source: The originating item that produced the match (for example, “[email protected]”).

If multiple values match a condition, all contributing sources are listed. If more than five attachments match, the first five are shown followed by a count of additional matches (for example, “+7 more”).

[Action Required / Recommendations:]

No action is required. This feature is enabled automatically for all DLP policies scoped to Exchange Online.

  • Optionally validate enriched data by triggering a DLP rule match.
  • Review the matched event in Activity Explorer under Data Loss Prevention > Activity Explorer.
  • Review DLP Alerts for the same enriched matched condition details.

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys – Automatically update emails with the latest content
Category:Dynamics 365 Apps
Nummer:MC1386119
Status:stayInformed
We are announcing the ability to automatically update emails with the latest content in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys. This feature will reach general availability on July 10, 2026.

How does this affect me?
This feature introduces a new type of content block called Dynamic content block. When a dynamic content block is updated, all emails using that block are automatically refreshed to ensure recipients always receive the most current content.

Key capabilities of Dynamic content blocks include:
  • Easily create dynamic content blocks in Content gallery with new content or select existing content in email and save it as a dynamic content block.
  • Mark content block as “protected” to prevent content from being modified in the email.
  • Allow personalized content (for example, dynamic text or conditional content).
  • Easily see which emails will be updated when you update content blocks.
Dynamic content blocks can be enabled by going to the Settings > Feature switches area and turning on the feature switch Dynamic content block.

What action do I need to take?
This message is for awareness, and no action is required.

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Improve engagement and message timing with Outreach Optimization Agent
Category:Dynamics 365 Apps
Nummer:MC1386125
Status:stayInformed
We are announcing the ability to improve engagement and message timing with Outreach Optimization Agent in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys. This feature will reach public preview on June 25, 2026.

How does this affect me?
This feature enables you to add the Outreach Optimization Agent to your journey, select the emails you want delivered, and let the agent handle timing and cadence automatically.

With the Outreach Optimization Agent, you can:
  • Start with an intelligent baseline: Outreach Optimization Agent automatically creates a baseline messaging plan for your audience by analyzing overall historical engagement patterns, producing a smart, generic plan that is designed to work well for most customers before any individual optimization is applied.
  • Listen to incoming interactions and adapt the plan in real time: The agent continuously monitors incoming signals, including engagement and non-responsiveness, and adjusts follow up timing, cadence, or exits the plan based on whether the goal is progressing or has been achieved.
  • Respect quiet times: The agent enforces quiet time settings as a hard constraint, ensuring that messages are never sent outside approved communication windows, even if engagement data suggests otherwise.
What action do I need to take?
This message is for awareness, and no action is required.

If you would like more information on this feature, please visit Improve engagement and message timing with Outreach Optimization Agent.
