(Updated) Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Chat: Prompt autosuggestions rollout will start soon
Category:Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365)
Nummer:MC950896
Status:planForChange

Updated February 7, 2025: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

Coming soon in Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Chat (BizChat): A new prompt autosuggestion feature that helps Work tab users discover and recall useful prompts from Microsoft’s curated prompt library (Copilot Lab) and the user’s prompt history.

This message applies to BizChat for Windows desktops, Mac desktops, and on the web. A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required to access this feature.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 409962.

[When this will happen:]

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out mid-December 2024 and expect to complete by late February 2025 (previously late January).

[How this will affect your organization:]

Before this rollout, suggestions appear in other places on the BizChat page, such as on as these cards. These suggestions will continue after the rollout:

user controls

In the early phases of this rollout, some users in an organization will not receive the prompt autosuggestion feature, and some organization accounts may not receive the feature. We plan to gather feedback through the early phases of this rollout to improve and create a best-in-class experience when we roll out the feature to all Copilot users.

After the feature rolls out to your tenant, this change will be available by default.

Chat box when users open the Copilot BizChat Work tab:

user controls

Prompt autosuggestions appear when users start typing. Users can select an autosuggestion:

A selected autosuggestion is added to the input box that users can edit and execute:

Microsoft Purview | Data Lifecycle Management: New secure workflow to bypass legal holds and retention policies
Category:Microsoft Purview
Nummer:MC971035
Status:planForChange

Updated February 7, 2025: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

This new feature enables data governance administrators to expedite the permanent deletion of sensitive content from Microsoft Exchange mailboxes, overriding any existing retention settings or eDiscovery holds. This process may be required for security or privacy, such as after a data spillage incident or for compliance and regulatory requirements.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 392838.

[When this will happen:]

Public Preview: We will begin rolling out late February 2025 (previously early February) and expect to complete by mid-March 2025 (previously mid-February).

Worldwide: We will begin rolling out late March 2025 and expect to complete by mid-April 2025.

[How this will affect your organization:]

Priority Cleanup administrators can now set up a Priority Cleanup policy for Exchange to create exceptions to retention principles and e-Discovery holds for specific scenarios. Once administrators are within the Data Lifecycle Management (DLM) Solution on Microsoft Purview, they can visit the Priority Cleanup tab and follow the wizard to set-up this policy. Like auto-apply retention labels, Priority Cleanup supports policy simulation mode, so administrators can check the returned samples in case the policy configuration needs any fine-tuning before enabling the policy. Once set-up, because the deletion by a priority cleanup policy is irreversible and can override existing holds, the process requires multiple approvals, specific roles, and is audited. Thus, respective reviewers must be mandatorily added during policy creation to allow for disposition of items under a retention or e-Discovery hold.

[What you need to do to prepare:]

Because of the built-in safeguards, the feature itself is enabled by default at the tenant level. However, Priority Cleanup can be turned off on the Priority Cleanup settings page. If you can’t create new Priority Cleanup policies, refer to your Data Lifecycle Management documentation for necessary roles and permissions requirements. A new role permission “Priority cleanup administrator” is now added to Purview role permissions to enable data governance administrators to use this feature.

(Updated) Updates to AI assistance category in Adoption Score
Category:Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365)
Nummer:MC981467
Status:stayInformed

Updated February 7, 2025: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

The AI assistance category page in Adoption Score helps adoption specialists measure progress towards making Microsoft 365 Copilot a daily habit. We are updating this page with an enhanced score, new Microsoft 365 Copilot usage metrics, time trends, and peer benchmarking. The page remains in public preview for this update.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 185700

[When this will happen:]

We will begin rolling out mid-January 2025 and expect to complete by late March 2025 (previously late January).

[How this will affect your organization:]

The updated AI Assistance score (preview) introduces:

  • Improved scoring model: the revised score takes into account a much wider range of M365 Copilot features as compared with V1, including usage of M365 Copilot Chat and all M365 Copilot capabilities across Teams, Outlook, and Office apps. As new Copilot features are released in these apps, usage of them automatically accrues to the score. As a result, tenants will see a much higher score as compared with V1, and efforts to grow adoption should lead more directly to score gains.
  • Peer Benchmarking: Customers can compare their score to peers in their industry, consistent with other Adoption Score categories.
  • Expanded secondary insights: V2 includes new feature-level usage metrics for Microsoft 365 Copilot features such as M365 Copilot Chat (work) as well as a histogram summarizing the number of days during which users were active in Copilot over the past month.
  • Time Trends: Customers can view how key M365 Copilot usage metrics (including the score itself) are trending over time, going back up to 180 days.

These insights provide Adoption Specialists and IT admins with a more comprehensive view of Copilot engagement, helping them drive adoption and measure success.

Reminder: Hotpatch eligibility and prerequisites
Category:Windows
Nummer:MC999973
Status:stayInformed
(Updated 2/7 12:00pm to call out additional prerequisite related to Arm64 devices)

Hotpatch is an extension of Windows Update, designed to reduce downtime and disruptions by allowing the installation of Monthly B release security updates without requiring a device restart. We encourage users to test and use Hotpatch.

However, it’s important to note that not all devices are eligible for Hotpatch updates. We want to remind you of the prerequisites necessary to ensure a successful Hotpatch deployment across your environment. For complete details, see Windows Autopatch Hotpatch Updates.

When will this happen:
The Hotpatch feature is currently in public preview. We welcome users to test and use Hotpatch in production environments, as well as provide us their feedback. Enrollment to Hotpatch updates begins at the Intune admin center. See the resources at the Additional Information section, below.

How this will affect your organization:
If you’ve recently added devices to your Hotpatch policy as part of Windows Autopatch, please note the below prerequisites to ensure successful Hotpatch deployment.

All devices must meet the following prerequisites:
  • Operating system: Devices must be running Windows 11 24H2 or later.
  • Virtualization-Based Security (VBS): Must be enabled to ensure secure installation of Hotpatch updates.
  • Latest baseline release: Devices must be on the latest baseline release version to qualify for Hotpatch updates. Microsoft releases Baseline updates quarterly as standard cumulative updates.
  • Arm64 devices only: disable compiled hybrid PE usage (CHPE), by making the following registry key setting:
  • Path: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
  • DWORD key value: HotPatchRestrictions = 1
  • See the documentation in the Additional Information section for additional details.

What you need to do to prepare:
In order to take advantage of the benefits of Hotpatch, devices must meet the necessary prerequisites. Review devices in your environment and see the resources at the Additional Information section below if deployment is not occurring as expected.

Devices that don’t meet one or more prerequisites automatically receive the Latest Cumulative Update (LCU) instead. LCUs contain monthly updates that supersede the previous month’s updates containing both security and non-security releases. While LCUs require a system restart, they ensure that the device remains fully secure and compliant.
