Action Required – Configure Browser Policy to Preserve OneDrive and SharePoint Web Performance and Offline CapabilityCategory:SharePoint Online Microsoft OneDriveNummer:MC1150662Status:preventOrFixIssue | Updated September 15, 2025: We have updated the content. Thank you for your patience. [Introduction] Upcoming privacy-related changes in Chromium-based browsers (Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge) will increase restrictions on local network access. When enforcement begins, users accessing OneDrive for Web (and some integrated Microsoft 365 experiences such as Microsoft Lists and SharePoint Document Libraries) will encounter a browser permission prompt for local network access unless the required policy is in place. If the permission is not allowed, performance optimizations and offline capabilities powered by OneDrive and Share Point will not be available. This communication provides required administrator actions to prevent loss of functionality. [When this will happen:] Chrome and Edge will roll out this privacy related change as part of Chromium 141 at the end of September. [How this will affect your organization:] If no action is taken:
1. Per machine SKU: The Sync client will automatically apply the required permissions and policies for existing users in Chrome and Edge—no user action is needed. 2. Per user SKU: The Sync client will prompt users via a Windows Toast notification to enable these permissions. Users should follow the notification instructions to complete setup. Mobile Plans moves to the webCategory:WindowsNummer:MC1153559Status:stayInformed | Connecting PCs to mobile data is now simpler. The Mobile Plans app will be retired in February 2026. Instead, please use your web browser and the Windows Settings app. The web-based experience is available from your mobile operator’s portal for purchasing and activating your cellular data plans. From Windows Settings, you can consent to securely sharing your device data with your mobile operator and thus allow automatic provisioning of your eSIM and instant download and use of cellular data. When will this happen:
How this will affect your organization: For most Windows users, this change should be convenient: connecting devices to a mobile network should be as easy as buying something online. You won’t need an extra app, such as the Mobile Plans app. If you represent a mobile operator, anticipate transitioning to the new model if you haven’t yet. What you need to do to prepare: Windows users that already have an active mobile plan don’t need to take any action. For future purchasing and management decisions, please use your mobile operator’s web portal and Windows Settings > Network & internet > Cellular > eSIM profiles. Mobile operators can embed lpa: URIs into their webpage or emails to trigger eSIM profile downloads as part of web purchases. Additional information:

Windows Management Instrumentation Command-line (WMIC) removal from WindowsCategory:WindowsNummer:MC1153657Status:stayInformed | Windows Management Instrumentation Command-line (WMIC) tool will be removed when upgrading to Windows 11, version 25H2. All later releases for Windows 11 will not include WMIC added by default. Microsoft recommends using PowerShell and other modern tools for any tasks previously done with WMIC. Note: Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) itself remains part of Windows. When will this happen:
How this will affect your organization: You may continue using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). However, WMIC will be removed as an outdated component, streamlining Windows without losing any management capabilities in Windows. By preparing now, you can help ensure a smooth transition in Windows. What you need to do to prepare: Microsoft recommends using PowerShell and other modern tools for any tasks previously done with WMIC. For example, to return a list of process names, replace the following WMIC query: wmic path win32_process get Name. Use the PowerShell command instead: Get-CimInstance Win32_Process | Select-Object Name. Additionally, you can consider programmatic alternatives such as WMI’s COM API, .NET libraries, or scripting languages. Once you decide on your way forward, please update your internal IT documentation and processes. Additional information:
