Power Automate – Picture-in-picture execution mode is now available in Power Automate for desktopCategory:Microsoft Power AutomateNummer:MC798273Status:stayInformed | We are announcing a new feature, picture-in-picture execution mode, which is now available in Power Automate for desktop for attended desktop flows. How does this affect me? This new feature gives makers the ability to trigger local attended desktop flows in an isolated Windows session, in a virtual window. This allows the flow run to not interfere with the user’s other work. What do I need to do to prepare? Desktop flows can be triggered to run in picture-in-picture mode through the Power Automate for desktop console. Select the target flow, open the More actions menu, and then select Run in picture-in-picture. Please note, in addition, the Run in picture-in-picture flow property can be enabled, making this flow always run in picture-in-picture mode when triggered locally. This message is for awareness and no action is required. |

Microsoft Teams: Simplifying the personal app design at the top of the screenCategory:Microsoft TeamsNummer:MC798316Status:stayInformed | Coming soon: Microsoft Teams personal apps will have a new simplified design at the top of the screen in Teams desktop and web clients. With this change, the About tab and other utility actions like Refresh for each app will be moved to the three-dot menu at the top of the screen. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 396166. [When this will happen:] General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, DoD): We will begin rolling out mid-July 2024 and expect to complete by late July 2024. [How this will affect your organization:] This rollout is for new Teams for Desktop, Web, and Mac. This rollout is not for Teams iOS or Android. Before the rollout, the top of the screen for personal apps in Teams was cluttered with the About tab and other utility actions. After the rollout, some applications will no longer have any tabs in the header bar, reducing overall complexity and visual clutter. An example of a personal app with the new design:
This new design is enabled by default for users of new Teams for Desktop, Web, and Mac. [What you need to do to prepare:] This rollout will happen automatically by the specified dates with no admin action required before the rollout. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate. |
Microsoft Purview | Data Lifecycle Management: Record opening behavior improvement in Office client applicationsCategory:Microsoft 365 suiteNummer:MC798317Status:stayInformed | In Microsoft Purview, we are improving how users can open locked records in Microsoft Office client applications (Microsoft: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Previously, when an end user opened a file that was a locked record, they could edit it and press the Save button, but SharePoint and OneDrive would reject the save and display an error. To avoid this confusion, locked records will now open as read-only and prevent end users from making changes. A message will explain to the end user why they cannot make changes to the file.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 395791 [When this will happen:] Public Preview: We will begin rolling out in late June and expect to complete by late July. General Availability: We will begin rolling out in late July and expect to complete it by late August. [How this will affect your organization:] This feature improves the end user experience when opening locked records in Office client applications. Now, an end user will see in advance that the file is designated as a locked record and cannot be modified, ensuring that the end user does not spend time editing a file that cannot be saved. This improvement brings parity to the behavior already in place for the online versions of Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). [What you need to do to prepare:] No action is necessary to prepare for this update. |

Microsoft PowerPoint Copilot: Support for protected and encrypted Word documents in “Create presentation from file”Category:Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365)Nummer:MC798323Status:stayInformed | Coming soon for Microsoft PowerPoint Copilot: The Create presentation from file feature will be able to support Microsoft Word documents with a protected or encrypted sensitivity label. A Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 license is required to use this feature. [When this will happen:] General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out early June 2024 and expect to complete by late June 2024.
[How this will affect your organization:] Before this rollout, users who attempt to create a new presentation based on an encrypted Word document will see an error message asking them to try again with an unprotected file. After this rollout, users will be able to create a new presentation based on an encrypted Word document. To ensure that there are no gaps in document protections, when a new presentation is created from a protected Word document, the newly created presentation will inherit the Word document’s sensitivity label, if it is higher than the new presentation. If a source Word document has been protected with Double-key Encryption (DKE) or has restricted Extract privileges, PowerPoint Copilot will respect these protections and will not create a new presentation based on the source file. [What you need to do to prepare:] This rollout will happen automatically by the specified dates with no admin action required before the rollout. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate. Learn more |
Power Automate – New desktop flow property available in Power Automate for desktopCategory:Microsoft Power AutomateNummer:MC798550Status:stayInformed | Starting June 30, 2024, a new desktop flow property, Flow timeout, will be available within the Power Automate for desktop console. How does this affect me? Flow timeout allows makers to set a maximum runtime for desktop flows. If this duration is exceeded, the flow will automatically time out and halt. This will ensure that flows do not run indefinitely, become unresponsive due to unforeseen conditions in the target application, or become stuck in potential infinite loops due to the flow logic. What do I need to do to prepare? The property, Flow timeout, is off by default but can be activated through a toggle in the Power Automate for desktop console. Once enabled, makers can define the maximum duration for the flow, using a format utilizing hours, minutes, and seconds. This message is for awareness and no action is required. |
