With the rollout of the tenant admin dashboard, Pulse admins will be able to visualize usage metrics in their tenant. This rollout will include metrics such as total pulses sent, response rate per pulse, and responses per pulse. Windows Autopatch: Groups device deregistration enhancementsCategory:Windows AutopatchNummer:MC926192Status:planForChange | On January 8, 2025, we are introducing an enhancement in Autopatch groups device management to improve the synchronization reliability between devices in Microsoft Entra groups assigned to Autopatch groups and the devices targeted via Autopatch groups. This update will ensure that any changes made by admins in Entra groups assigned to Autopatch groups are accurately reflected in Windows Autopatch-registered devices. [When this will happen:] General Availability (Worldwide): We will roll out on January 8, 2025. [How this will affect your organization:] With this feature update, if a device that was previously added to an Autopatch group is using an Entra group (via Assigned groups or Dynamic distribution method) is removed from the Entra group, then the device will be removed and de-registered from the Autopatch service. Consequently, the removed device will no longer have any service-created policies applied to it and will not appear in the Autopatch devices reports.
Similarly, new devices added to the Entra groups assigned to an Autopatch group will be added to the Autopatch devices report and will have policies applied to them as required. Admins can review the added devices in the Windows Autopatch devices report. Note: Please expect 3 hours latency for the changes to be reflected in the service and reports. This feature update will be available by default. [What you need to do to prepare:] If you have removed any devices from an Autopatch group, they will be fully de-registered from the service. If you wish to continue using Autopatch for these devices, please ensure they are correctly added to Autopatch groups via the Entra groups. Microsoft Syntex pay-as-you-go service: Simple document processing prebuilt modelCategory:SharePoint OnlineNummer:MC926194Status:stayInformed | Coming soon to Microsoft Syntex pay-as-you-go service is a new prebuilt model that uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and AI to detect the primary language of the file, key-value pairs, tables, selection marks, and barcodes. As with other models, it can be configured to extract this information to specified library columns. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 413430. [When this will happen:] General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out mid-November 2024 and expect to complete by late November 2024. [How this will affect your organization:] Users will be able to easily configure and apply a model to detect import elements of information in the document, including the primary language of the file text and barcodes. This is another prebuilt model, in addition to contracts, receipts, and invoices, and is available via the same service. If the prebuilt service is on, this new model will also appear in the menu.
Once enabled, users will be able to create, configure, and apply this model in the same manner as other prebuilt models. In addition to extracting detected elements, this model can also detect the primary language of the file. This information can be extracted to a Detected language column when the model is applied to a library, which can then be used for other content processing, like document translation. Entra ID: Expansion of WhatsApp as an MFA one-time passcode delivery channelCategory:Microsoft EntraNummer:MC926195Status:planForChange | In late 2023, Microsoft Entra started leveraging WhatsApp as an alternate channel to deliver multifactor authentication (MFA) one-time passcodes (OTPs) to users in India and Indonesia. We saw improved deliverability, completion rates, and satisfaction when leveraging the channel in both countries. The channel was temporarily disabled in India in early 2024. Starting early December 2024, we will be re-enabling the channel in India and expanding its use to additional countries. [When this will happen:] Starting December 2024, users in India and other countries may start receiving MFA text messages via WhatsApp. Only users that are enabled to receive MFA text messages as an authentication method and already have WhatsApp on their phone will get this experience. If a user with WhatsApp on their device is unreachable or doesn’t have internet connectivity, they will quickly fall back to the regular SMS channel. In addition, users receiving OTPs via WhatsApp for the first time will be notified of the change in behavior via SMS text message. The sender agent in WhatsApp where users will see the OTPs will be branded as Microsoft with a verified checkmark. [How this will affect your organization:] If you’re a Microsoft Entra workforce customer and currently leverage the text-message authentication method, we recommend you notify your helpdesk about this upcoming change. Additionally, if you don’t want your users to receive MFA text messages through WhatsApp, you may disable text messages as an authentication method in your organization. Please note that we highly encourage organizations move to using more modern, secure methods like Microsoft Authenticator and passkeys in favor of telecom and messaging app methods. All installed agents (including erstwhile Microsoft 365 Copilot plugins) can now be accessed via one location in CopilotCategory:Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365)Nummer:MC926202Status:stayInformed | To streamline and simplify the experience for our users, we are relocating plugins to the right pane of Copilot (same location as other agent experiences) from their current location. This will ensure coherence in how users discover, install, manage and use different types of agents in Copilot. Plugins will now have their own focused chat experience and will also be referenced as “agents” ahead. This update applies to the Microsoft 365 Copilot experiences for Desktop and Web across the Microsoft 365 app (Office) and Teams. This will be followed by Copilot in Word, Copilot in PowerPoint, Copilot in Microsoft Teams Meeting and Copilot on Teams mobile ahead. Web content toggle that defines user’s preference on Copilot accessing the web for responses is moving to the “…” menu at the top of the screen as referenced below.
