Sometimes, you might encounter a situation where the ‘Join’ button on your calendar invite isn’t functioning as it should. Don’t worry, it’s not just you. This can happen to anyone. But there’s a workaround for this.
When you click on the meeting invite, you’ll find the meeting ID and passcode. These two pieces of information are your keys to access your Microsoft Teams meeting. Let me walk you through the process.
First, copy the meeting ID from your invite. Then, navigate to your Microsoft Teams environment. Here, you’ll find the calendar feature. Within the calendar, there’s an option to ‘Join with an ID’. This is what we’re going to use.
Before we proceed, I’d like to point out another handy feature – the ‘Meet Now’ button. It’s a quick way to start a meeting, but it’s not what we’re using to join with an ID.
Click on ‘Join with ID’, and you’ll be prompted to enter your meeting ID. Paste the ID you copied earlier. Next, copy and paste the passcode. Now, you’re ready to join the meeting. Click ‘Join’, and you’ll see your browser opening the meeting page. The name of the meeting will be ‘Join with an ID’, confirming that you’re in the correct meeting.
Now, let’s delve into how you can generate a meeting ID and passcode in Outlook. Whenever you create a new event in Outlook, you have the ability to make it a Teams meeting. For instance, let’s say I’m creating a meeting with Debby. I’ll invite her to a Teams meeting. Once I send the invite, the event is created.
You can then double-click on the event and click ‘Edit’. At the bottom, you’ll find your link for people to join via, as well as your meeting ID and passcode. These are the credentials people will need to join your meeting.
