Updated June 8, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

We’re enhancing the contact experience in Microsoft Outlook Mobile (iOS and Android) by introducing profile-enriched contacts and automatic duplicate contact management. These improvements aim to streamline contact views and provide richer organizational context.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 493753.

This feature has previously been released to the People Hub in new Outlook for Windows. More details in MC927963 (Updated) New Microsoft Outlook for Windows: People Hub improvements (published November 2024, updated April 2025).

[When this will happen:]

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out mid-July 2025 (previously late June) and expect to complete by end of September 2026 (previously end of May).

[How this will affect your organization:]

Before this rollout, Outlook Mobile may have displayed multiple entries for the same contact and lacked organizational profile context.

After this rollout:

  • Contacts will be unified into a single enriched view, displaying additional profile information from your organization’s directory (where available).
  • Identical duplicate contacts will be automatically hidden.
  • These enhancements will be on by default and apply to both iOS and Android versions of Outlook Mobile. No admin controls exist.
  • Users can access their contact list by selecting Contacts from the Apps section in the Outlook Mobile app.

[What you need to do to prepare:]

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified dates with no admin action required before the rollout. You may want to notify your users about this change and update internal documentation.

After the feature is rolled out, please ensure that users have updated to the latest version of Outlook for iOS or Outlook for Android.

(Updated) Express voice enrollment in Microsoft Teams
Category:Microsoft Teams Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365)
Nummer:MC1197146
Status:planForChange

Updated June 8, 2026: We have updated the timeline and content. Thank you for your patience.

[Introduction]

Express voice enrollment in Microsoft Teams makes registering your voice profile quick and seamless. A voice profile enables features such as voice isolation, speaker recognition, identification in meeting rooms, improved transcripts, and enhanced meeting recaps and insights powered by Microsoft 365 Copilot. If you haven’t enrolled, you’ll receive an in-product prompt to opt in and enroll simply by speaking during a meeting. Admins can enable or disable this feature for their organization.

This message is associated with Roadmap ID 537269.

[When this will happen:]

  • Targeted Release: Rollout begins mid-June 2026 (previously early June) and is expected to complete by end of June (previously mid-June).
  • General Availability: Rollout begins end of June 2026 (previously mid-June) and is expected to complete by early July 2026 (previously late June).

[How this will affect your organization:]

Who is affected:

  • All commercial Microsoft Teams customers except Education (EDU) tenants.

What will happen:

  • A new voice enrollment experience will be available in Teams. Users can proceed to the Teams global settings > Recognition tab to opt in and enroll their voice profile by speaking during a meeting
  • User prompts will be released with a later version to drive awareness on the functionality and prompt users to enroll their voice profile.
  • The feature will be ON by default for enterprise tenants.
  • EDU tenants are excluded from this rollout.
  • Admins can disable this feature or manage settings using PowerShell in the PassiveVoiceEnrollment configuration in the csTeamsAIPolicy policy. Refer to Set-CsTeamsAIPolicy (MicrosoftTeams) | Microsoft Learn for more information.
  • If your organization previously disabled voice enrollment policies (under the EnrollVoice configuration), that policy will still be in effect and this express enrollment feature will not apply change this value.
  • As of May 2026, all tenants that previously had EnrollVoice set to disabled, Microsoft applied the same value to PassiveVoiceEnrollment for consistency.
  • To disable voice enrollment entirely for your organization, please make sure both EnrollVoice and PassiveVoiceEnrollment configurations are disabled.
  • If you choose to change the default policy setting or disable voice enrollment entirely, users will not be able to fully benefit from features like speaker recognition, transcript attribution, intelligent audio/video experiences, or receive the most insightful meeting recaps and responses from Copilot and agents.

[What you can do to prepare:]

  • Review your organization’s Teams AI policy settings before rollout.
  • If you want to disable this feature, update the PassiveVoiceEnrollment configuration using PowerShell.
  • Communicate this change to your helpdesk and end users as needed.
  • Update internal documentation to reflect this new capability.

[Compliance considerations:]

No compliance considerations identified; review as appropriate for your organization.

(Updated) Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention: Optical character recognition for images in Office and PDFs on Windows
Category:Microsoft Purview
Nummer:MC1310681
Status:stayInformed

Updated June 8, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

[Introduction]

We are introducing optical character recognition (OCR) scanning support for Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) on Windows endpoint devices. This enhancement enables DLP policies to detect sensitive information within images embedded inside Office documents and PDF files.

Previously, embedded images were skipped during endpoint DLP scanning, creating a detection blind spot. With this update, embedded images are OCR-processed, helping improve data protection coverage and reduce risk of accidental data exposure.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 381750.

[When this will happen:]

  • General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout will begin in early June 2026 (previously late May) and is expected to complete by end of June 2026 (previously end of May).

[How this affects your organization:]

Who is affected:

  • Admins managing Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention
  • Organizations using Endpoint DLP on Windows devices
  • Users working with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files on Windows endpoints

What will happen:

Once OCR is enabled for your organization, DLP policies applied to endpoint devices will be able to scan images embedded inside Office documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and pdf files on Windows devices. This means:

  • Sensitive data detection in embedded images: If a document contains an embedded image with sensitive information (such as credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, or financial data), DLP policies can now detect that data and enforce configured actions (audit, block, or block with override).
  • Closes a detection blind spot: Previously, embedded images were entirely skipped during endpoint DLP scanning. This update ensures those images are processed using OCR and evaluated against your DLP policies.
  • Cost implications: Enabling OCR incurs additional costs based on the volume of images scanned. Costs are charged per image scanned via Azure AI Services. Organizations can monitor OCR costs through:
    • The OCR cost dashboard in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal under Data loss prevention → Overview
    • Cost Management + Billing in the Azure portal, filtered by your Azure AI Services resource

[What you can do to prepare:]

To take advantage of this feature, complete the following steps:

  1. Verify prerequisites:
    • Confirm Microsoft Sense Client version 10.8820.27904.1000 or later.
    • Run: MsSense.exe --version from C:\Program Files\Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection.
    • Ensure Windows OS update KB5079473 is installed on endpoint devices.
  2. Enable OCR in Microsoft Purview:
    1. Navigate to the Microsoft Purview compliance portal.
    2. Go to Data loss prevention → Overview → Data loss prevention settings.
    3. Under Optical Character Recognition (OCR), select Turn on OCR scanning.
    4. Select the appropriate Azure pay-as-you-go subscription and Azure AI Services resource.
    5. Select Save.
  3. Review and update DLP policies:
    • Ensure policies include Devices as a location.
    • Consider testing with Test mode and policy tips before enforcing actions.
    • Verify sensitive information types are configured for detection in embedded images.
  4. Set up billing and monitor costs:
    • Configure OCR billing before enabling the feature.
    • Review the OCR cost dashboard in Purview after enabling.
  5. Assign appropriate roles:
    • Compliance Data Administrator
    • Compliance Administrator
    • Information Protection
    • Information Protection Admin

(Updated) Pay-as-you-go consumption-based meter for your extra SharePoint storage needs
Category:SharePoint Online
Nummer:MC1330893
Status:stayInformed

Updated June 8, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

[Introduction]

To help organizations manage SharePoint storage more flexibly and avoid over-provisioning, Microsoft is introducing a pay-as-you-go, consumption-based billing model for SharePoint storage overages. This option allows you to pay only for the additional storage you actually use, rather than pre-purchasing extra capacity. The experience integrates with Microsoft 365 Archive and helps align storage costs with real usage.

This change is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 506743.

[When this will happen:]

  • Public Preview (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in early June 2026 and expect to complete by mid-June 2026.
  • General Availability (WW): We expect to begin rolling out in September 2026 and to complete rolling by end of October 2026

[How this affects your organization:]

Who is affected:

  • Microsoft 365 administrators managing SharePoint Online storage
  • Note: This feature isn’t currently available to education tenants. Let us know if you’d like it to be supported in the future.

What will happen:

  • Admins can enable pay-as-you-go SharePoint storage billing in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
  • Storage used above the included tenant quota will be automatically billed based on consumption.
  • There is no impact to users.
  • The existing Office 365 Extra File Storage add‑on remains available if you prefer to manually increase your storage quota instead.
  • The feature is opt-in and off by default.

[What you can do to prepare:]

  • No immediate action is required. However, we recommend the following:
  • Review your tenant’s current SharePoint storage usage in the SharePoint admin center > Active sites.
  • Evaluate whether a consumption‑based model or manually purchased storage best fits your organization’s cost and governance preferences.
  • If you plan to enable pay‑as‑you‑go billing:
    • Ensure the appropriate Azure subscription and billing permissions are in place.
    • Update internal documentation or cost‑management processes as needed.
  • Share this information with finance or procurement teams if they track usage‑based charges.

[Compliance considerations]

Compliance area Impact and explanation
Admin monitoring and reporting SharePoint storage usage above the included tenant quota will be reflected in consumption-based billing and usage reports, which may affect how admins monitor and track storage consumption and costs.
Admin control Administrators must explicitly enable
Microsoft Power Automate – Measure time and cost savings for desktop flows
Category:Microsoft Power Automate
Nummer:MC1383792
Status:stayInformed
We are announcing the ability to measure time and cost savings for desktop flows in Microsoft Power Automate. This feature will reach general availability on June 30, 2026.

How does this affect me?
This feature introduces built-in rules that calculate time and cost savings for desktop flows based on successful executions. You can define how long a task previously took when performed manually and let the platform compute time saved using flow run data. Cost savings can be estimated by applying hourly rates or custom monetary baselines that scale with execution volume. Savings accumulate automatically as flows run, making the impact of automation measurable over time.

Category:Dynamics 365 Apps
Nummer:MC1384395
Status:stayInformed
We have identified an issue with Dynamics 365 Sales and Dynamics 365 Customer Service licensing entitlements that prevent your users from accessing Dynamics 365 finance and operations apps in read-only mode.

How does this affect me?
Users will be unable to access finance and operations apps in read-only mode as expected. We are developing a fix to restore expected read-only access, which we intend to apply to your tenant by mid-July.

Why is this action needed?
This message is for awareness, and no action is required. Access will be restored automatically following the fix deployment.
