(Updated) Microsoft Purview | Insider Risk Management: Policy tuning analysis for priority content only policies
Category:Microsoft Purview
Nummer:MC1059679
Status:stayInformed

Updated September 3, 2025:  the rollout has been postponed for GCC, GCCHigh, and DoD environments to a later date. We apologize for any inconvenience.

In Microsoft Purview | Insider Risk Management (IRM), policy tuning analysis provides admins with a real-time prediction of the number of users in a tenant that could potentially match a given set of policy conditions. After this rollout, policy tuning analysis will support insider risk policies that are scoped for priority content.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 378409.

This message is associated with MC786326 (about the preview for this feature that started in May 2024).

[When this will happen:]

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out late June 2025 (previously mid-June) and expect to complete by late August 2025 (previously late July).

General Availability (GCC, GCCHigh, DoD): We will communicate via Message center when we are ready to proceed.

[How this will affect your organization:]

After this rollout, admins can use real-time analytics for policies scoped for priority content to help predict the number of users that could potentially match a given set of policy conditions. This feature enables admins to quickly adjust the selection of indicators and thresholds of activity occurrence so they can efficiently translate their insider risk strategies into pragmatic controls and keep from having too few or too many alerts.

1. In IRM, Navigate to Settings > Insider Risk Management > Analytics, turn on Analytics, and then select Save.

admin controls

2. Create/edit a policy scoped to all users in the organization.

3. When you get to Content to prioritize in the policy wizard, select the priority content types you want to prioritize:

admin controls

4. Select the items for each priority content type as applicable.

5. On the scoring page, select Get alerts only for activity that includes priority content:

admin controls

6. Configure the rest of the policy as applicable and save it.

7. 1-2 days after the policy is saved, edit the policy again and navigate to the indicator thresholds page where insights on user activity containing the scoped priority content for each indicator will be visible under Choose your own thresholds:

admin controls

[What you need to do to prepare:]

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required before the rollout. Review your current configuration to determine the impact for your organization. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation.

This change will be available by default for admins to configure. To use this feature, admins will need to enable Analytics in Insider risk management > Settings. After Analytics is enabled and insights are populated, admins will be able to see real-time predictions in policies scoped to all users/groups and scored only for priority content.

Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance and organizational requirements. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.

You can access the Insider Risk Management solution in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal.

The Adobe-powered PDF viewer in Microsoft Edge for Business is now available in beta for organizations to test. Organizations can now experience the viewer by default in Edge Beta (starting in version 136) and validate how it works within their PDF workflows. This early testing period helps identify and address any issues before the viewer becomes the default in Edge Stable release in October 2025. We will retire the legacy PDF viewer in September 2026.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 489231.

(Updated) Microsoft Teams town halls now support backup Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) streams
    Category:Microsoft Teams
    Nummer:MC1261595
    Status:stayInformed

Updated May 18, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

    [Introduction]

To improve reliability for large-scale live events, Microsoft Teams town halls will soon support a backup Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) stream. RTMP is a standard live‑streaming protocol used by event organizers to send live video and audio to a streaming service, such as Microsoft Teams. This enhancement helps ensure uninterrupted broadcasts by automatically failing over to a secondary RTMP stream if the primary stream experiences an interruption. This change increases resiliency for high-visibility events without adding complexity for organizers.

This message applies to Teams for Windows desktop, Teams for Mac desktop, and Teams for the web. It is associated with Roadmap ID 554932.

    [When this will happen:]

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): Rollout begins late April 2026 and completes by mid-June 2026 (previously late April)

    [How this affects your organization:]

    Who is affected:

    • Organizers and producers hosting Microsoft Teams town halls using RTMP-based production workflows

    What will happen:

    • Organizers can configure a backup RTMP stream during event setup using Teams Meeting options in Production tools.
    • If the primary RTMP stream fails, Teams will automatically fail over to the backup stream with no manual intervention.
    • There’s no change to the attendee experience.
    • The feature is available by default; no admin configuration is required.

[What you can do to prepare:]

    • No action is required.
    • Optionally, update internal event-production documentation and notify event producers of this new resiliency option.

    [Introduction]

To support more effective in-person collaboration, Microsoft Teams is expanding AI-powered meeting notes with the Facilitator agent to Teams Rooms on Android. This enhancement allows teams meeting in a physical room to capture real-time notes, decisions, and action items—without requiring a scheduled or hybrid meeting. The experience is designed to ensure notes are securely stored in your tenant while no data remains on the room device after the meeting ends.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 56700.

    [When this will happen]

    General Availability

    • Worldwide and GCC: We will begin rolling out in early July 2026 (previously late June) and expect to complete by mid-July 2026.
    • GCC-H: We will begin rolling out in mid-July 2026 and expect to complete by mid-August 2026.

    [How this affects your organization]

    Who is affected

    • Organizations using Teams Rooms on Android
    • Rooms licensed with Teams Rooms Pro

    What will happen

    • During an in-person meeting, users can start AI-powered notes by selecting the Take notes button on the Teams Rooms console.
    • Notes appear on the front-of-room display or touch board during the meeting:

      user settings

    • Notes are stored in tenant-owned SharePoint embedded storage.
    • Access to notes requires adding your work account using the Access notes button on the Teams Rooms console.

      user settings

    • After the meeting, notes can be viewed and edited by participants with access via the meeting recap in the meeting chat on the Teams desktop client.

    • If no participant was added during the note-taking session via Access notes, notes are deleted automatically.

    [Compliance considerations]

    QuestionAnswer
Does the change store new customer data, and if so, where, and is the data cached or permanently stored?Yes. Meeting notes generated by Facilitator are stored in tenant‑owned SharePoint Embedded storage. No meeting data is stored or cached on the Teams Rooms device after the meeting ends.
Does the change alter how existing customer data is processed, stored, or accessed (for example, documents, emails, or chats)?Yes. Meeting audio and transcription data are processed to generate AI‑powered meeting notes, including summaries, decisions, and action items. Access to the notes occurs through the meeting recap in the meeting chat on Teams desktop client.
Does the change introduce or significantly modify AI/ML or agent capabilities that interact with or provide access to customer data?Yes. The Facilitator agent uses AI to generate real‑time meeting notes, summaries, decisions, and action items based on in‑person meeting content.
Does the change provide users a new way of interacting with generative AI, and if so, how?Yes. Users can initiate AI‑generated meeting notes during an in‑person meeting by selecting “Take notes” on the Teams Rooms console.
Does the change include an admin control, and can it be controlled through tenant configuration?Yes. Availability of the feature depends on existing tenant settings, including Teams Rooms Pro licensing, Facilitator enablement, Loop component settings, and meeting transcription policies.

Power Platform admin center – Information regarding the retirement of Power Platform Security Score (Preview)
    Category:Power Platform
    Nummer:MC1310690
    Status:planForChange
On May 29, 2026, we are retiring the Security Score (Preview) feature from the Security > Overview page in the Power Platform admin center. The security score and its qualitative rating (Low, Medium, High) will no longer be available.

    How does this affect me?
The Security Score (preview) provided a qualitative measurement (Low, Medium, High) of your organization’s security posture across Power Platform and Dynamics 365 environments. It calculated a percentage-based score reflecting how many recommended security features, such as IP firewall, tenant isolation, environment security groups, and auditing, were enabled across your environments.

    After May 29, 2026:
    • The security score and its qualitative rating will no longer appear on the Security > Overview page.
    • Recommendations generated from the security score calculation will no longer be displayed.
    • The Security > Overview page will remain available but will no longer include the score or recommendation sections.
    • All other Security Hub capabilities, including Data Protection & Privacy, Identity & Access Management, Compliance, and proactive policy management, are not affected and continue to be available.
Please note that, because the security score was a preview feature, it was not intended for production use and was subject to change under the supplemental terms of use for Microsoft previews.

What do I need to do to prepare?
The retirement of this preview feature does not affect your existing security configurations or policies. We recommend updating any of your internal documentation or training materials that reference the Power Platform security score.

If your organization relied on the security score for reporting or compliance tracking, we recommend transitioning to the following alternatives:
    • Microsoft Secure Score in the Microsoft 365 Defender portal, which provides a comprehensive security posture assessment across your Microsoft 365 environment.
    • Environment-level security settings in the Power Platform admin center, where you can continue to configure and monitor individual security features such as IP firewall, tenant isolation, data policies, and environment security groups.
    • Managed Environment governance controls, which provide policy enforcement including solution checkers, sharing limits, and access controls.

Microsoft Dataverse – Solution-aware tables and metadata in Dataverse now classified as file storage
    Category:Microsoft Dataverse
    Nummer:MC1314979
    Status:stayInformed
In April 2026, we updated how storage is reported in Dataverse, moving solution-aware components and metadata from the database tier to the file tier. This change has no impact on apps, flows, solutions, or integrations.

    How does this affect me?
Within the Power Platform admin center, under Resources and then Capacity:
    • Database storage is lower by the amount previously attributed to this content.
    • File storage is proportionally higher.
    • Total tenant storage is unchanged. Content moved tiers; it did not grow.
Database and file capacity are entitled and priced separately:
    • If you were near your database limit, you likely have more headroom.
    • If you were near your file limit, confirm you have sufficient file capacity; additional capacity is available via add-on.
What do I need to do to prepare?
This message is for awareness and no action required.

We recommend admins sign in to the Power Platform admin center and navigate to Resources and then Capacity to review Database, File, and Log usage at the tenant and environment level, especially if trending near the file entitlement.

If you have questions about this change or your capacity position, please contact Microsoft Support.

Update to agents in SharePoint: Simpler launch experience and new site AI settings
Category:SharePoint Online Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365)
    Nummer:MC1315219
    Status:planForChange

    [Introduction]

We’re updating how agents in SharePoint work to provide a simpler experience for agents selected on a site.

As a refresher, Get started with agents in SharePoint – Microsoft Support, there are two types of agents in SharePoint:

    • Ready-made agent – Every SharePoint site comes with a “ready-made agent”, automatically scoped to the content on that site. These agents, scoped to the SharePoint site, require no building from site admins or site owners.
    • Custom-built agent – With site editing permissions, you can create custom agents with a specific content scope, identity, and behavior.

With this update, we’re introducing a new Site AI settings to give site owners more control over which agents are highlighted on their sites. Approved agents will no longer appear in the Agent Picker, so these agents should be placed directly on the site page for better discoverability.

    [When this will happen]

General Availability (Worldwide): We began rolling out in mid-November 2024 and expect rollout to complete by early June 2026.

    [How this affects your organization]

    Who is affected

    • All Microsoft 365 tenants using SharePoint Online
    • Site owners and content authors managing how custom agents are discovered on their site

    What will happen

    • Site owners will manage the site’s “Default” agent through the main agent setting in the new Site AI settings panel in SharePoint site settings.
    • For existing sites, the current “Default” agent will automatically become the site’s main agent.
    • For new sites, the main agent will be the ready-made agent
    • Users no longer access approved agents through the agent picker and overflow menu in the chat pane. All approved agents remain in the Site Assets\Copilots\Approved folder.
    • To help users discover agents, site owners and builders should surface agents directly on pages using supported web parts or shared agent links.

This feature is on by default and does not require tenant-level configuration changes.

[What you can do to prepare]

No immediate admin action is required. We recommend the following preparation steps:

    • Ask site owners and builders to review the approved agents on their sites in the Site Assets\Copilots\Approved folder.
    • Encourage site owners to add or update agent links on pages using supported web parts, such as: Agent Link web partEditorial Card web part, and adding shared .agent file links in Text web part
    • Inform users that agents they recently used can be found in:
      • Build “Owned by me” section by choosing the Agents filter,
      • OneDrive web Home > Recent view (filterable by agent), or
      • Microsoft 365 Copilot agents list

Outlook on the web: New setting to use data classification services for DLP evaluation
    Category:Exchange Online
    Nummer:MC1315220
    Status:planForChange

    Introduction

We are introducing a new organization-level setting that allows admins to migrate Outlook on the web (OWA) from Exchange-based Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policy evaluation to Data Classification Services (DCS)-based DLP policy evaluation. This change brings OWA in line with the new Outlook experience, enabling enhanced capabilities such as the new oversharing policy tips experience and “Wait to send.” This update helps provide a more consistent, modern, and scalable DLP experience across Outlook clients.

    When this will happen:

    • General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout will begin mid-May 2026 and complete by late May 2026.
    • General Availability (GCC): Rollout will begin mid-May 2026 and complete by mid-June 2026.

    How this affects your organization:

    Who is affected:

    • Admins managing Exchange Online and Microsoft Purview DLP policies
    • Organizations using DLP policies in Outlook on the web

    What will happen:

    • A new organization-level setting (DlpViaDcsEnabled) will be available to control DLP evaluation mode in OWA.
    • By default, the setting is False, meaning Exchange-based DLP remains in use.
    • Admins can manually enable DCS-based DLP evaluation for OWA using PowerShell.
    • Once enabled, OWA will use DCS-based DLP policy evaluation instead of Exchange-based evaluation.
    • Users may experience enhanced DLP features, including:
      • Improved oversharing policy tips
      • “Wait to send” functionality
      • Alignment with new Outlook DLP behavior
    • Some legacy Exchange-based DLP predicates will no longer be supported after migration. Refer to Data loss prevention policy tip reference for Outlook for Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn for details about supported features.

What you can do to prepare:

    • If you plan to continue using Exchange-based DLP evaluation, no action is required.
    • If you plan to migrate to DCS-based DLP evaluation by enabling the DlpViaDcsEnabled setting:
      • Important: Review existing DLP policies before enabling this setting. Some Exchange-based predicates are not supported with DCS-based DLP and policies using them may no longer work as expected after migration.
      • Test DCS-based DLP evaluation in a controlled environment
      • Enable the setting using Exchange Online PowerShell:
      Get-OrganizationConfig | Select DlpViaDcsEnabled
      Set-OrganizationConfig -DlpViaDcsEnabled $true

      • Communicate changes to compliance teams.
      • Update internal documentation.

Learn more: Set-OrganizationConfig (ExchangePowerShell) | Microsoft Learn

    Compliance considerations:

    Compliance areaExplanation
Alters how existing customer data is processedDLP evaluation shifts from Exchange-based processing to DCS-based processing, which may change how email content is analyzed and classified. This is existing analyzation classification flows for New Outlook and Classic Outlook.
Modifies Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies or enforcementSome Exchange-based predicates are no longer supported, and enforcement behavior may differ under DCS-based evaluation.
    Includes an admin control

Admins can enable or disable the feature using the DlpViaDcsEnabled organization setting.
