(Updated) Microsoft Teams: Rule-based enablement of Microsoft 365 third-party apps in the Teams admin center
Category:Microsoft Teams
Nummer:MC1085133
Status:planForChange

Updated May 27, 2026: We have updated the timeline. This feature will now be included as part of another update referenced in MC796790. Administrators will gain the ability to manage Microsoft 365 certified SaaS applications through org-wide settings for third-party apps. No changes will be applied to tenant-wide settings unless initiated by an administrator. Thank you for your patience.

This feature will empower administrators to manage the availability of trusted Microsoft Teams apps based on rules, for enhanced security. Admins will be able to manage Microsoft 365 certified apps in the Teams admin center through a new control in Org-wide settings. You can further customize the availability of these apps based on permissions accessed and publisher names. The system automatically checks the Microsoft 365 certified apps that meet all the conditions you specify and makes those apps available.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 485712.

[When this will happen:]

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out mid-April 2026 (previously early April) and expect to complete by end of July 2026 (previously late April).

[How this will affect your organization:]

Before this rollout, you cannot manage at bulk the availability of Microsoft 365 certified apps. They are only controlled by third-party app tenant settings.

After this rollout, you can manage Microsoft 365 certified apps availability from org-wide settings in the Teams admin center at Manage apps > Actions > Org-wide app settings > Third-party apps.

admin settings

[What you need to do to prepare:]

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified dates with no admin action required before or after the rollout. Review your current configuration to assess the impact on your organization. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation. This new control will be disabled by default.

(Updated) User reported security signals in Teams admin center
Category:Microsoft Teams
Nummer:MC1227625
Status:stayInformed

Updated May 27, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

[Introduction]

As part of our ongoing protection investments in Microsoft Teams, we will continue expanding the ways users can report suspicious or incorrect activity. Users can already report security concerns and incorrect detections in chats and channels (MC1037768, MC1147984), and more recently in calls (MC1223828). These user‑submitted reports help identify potential malicious activity and strengthen your organization’s security posture.

Building on this foundation, we will introduce new capabilities that allow Teams administrators to review and export user‑reported security submissions directly in the Teams admin center. A new Protection reports section will be added under Analytics and reports, giving admins unified visibility into user‑reported calls, chats, and channels.

This message relates to Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 536571.

[When this will happen]

Phase 1 – User‑reported call data

  • Targeted Release: Rollout will begin in mid-April 2026 (previously mid‑March) and complete in late April 2026 (previously late March).
  • General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout will begin in late April 2026 (previously mid‑April) and complete in mid-June 2026 (previously early May).

Phase 2 – User‑reported chats and channels

  • This phase will add message‑level reporting for security concerns and incorrect detections.
  • The timeline will be communicated in a future update to this Message center post.

[How this affects your organization]

Who is affected: Teams administrators who have access to Analytics and reports in the Teams admin center.

What will happen:

  • A new Protection reports section will appear under Teams admin center > Analytics & reports:

    user settings

  • Admins will be able to view and export data about user‑submitted security reports for calls (Phase 1) and later chats and channels (Phase 2).
  • Reported interactions will begin populating once users submit reports.
  • Admins will be able to review reported calls or messages and take appropriate action.
  • Admins will be able to view 1‑day, 7‑day, and 30‑day reporting windows.
  • This feature will require that user reporting settings be enabled in the Teams admin center.

[What you can do to prepare]

To ensure reporting data is available when rollout begins, verify that end‑user reporting features are enabled:

  • Enable Report a call: Teams admin center > Calling settings
  • Enable Report a security concern and Report incorrect detection: Teams admin center > Messaging settings
  • Once enabled and users begin submitting reports, access data at: Teams admin center > Analytics & reports > Protection reports > User‑reported security submission
  • Update internal documentation if your helpdesk relies on reporting workflows.
  • If you maintain training or onboarding materials about Teams security practices, consider adding guidance on how users can report suspicious interactions.

[Compliance considerations]

QuestionAnswer
Does the change store new customer data, if so, where, and is the data cached or permanently stored?Yes. This change stores new customer data because user‑submitted security reports for calls, chats, and channels are collected and made available in the Teams admin center for administrative review.
Does the change alter how existing customer data is processed, stored, or accessed?Yes. This change alters how existing customer data is accessed because it surfaces reported calls, messages, and detections to Teams administrators for investigation within the new Protection reports area.
Does the change alter how admins can monitor, report on, or demonstrate compliance activities?Yes. This change adds new monitoring and reporting capabilities by providing a dedicated Protection reports section where admins can view and export user‑reported security submissions.

(Updated) New Outlook for Windows: LDAP support for S/MIME certificate lookup
Category:Exchange Online
Nummer:MC1310680
Status:stayInformed

Updated May 27, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

[Introduction]

New Outlook for Windows now supports Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directories for S/MIME certificate lookup. This enables tenants to configure LDAP directories for their organization as well as enabling users to configure LDAP directories themselves. Once configured, users can find recipients’ public encryption certificates from the directories when sending encrypted email, improving secure collaboration with external partners. This is especially valuable for tenants who collaborate with external partners and rely on public/partner LDAP directories to store public S/MIME certificates of users.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 518287.

[When this will happen:]

  • General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in late May 2026 and expect to complete by mid-June 2026 (previously late May).
  • General Availability (GCC): We will begin rolling out in mid-June 2026 (previously early June) and expect to complete by late June 2026.

[How this affects your organization:]

Who is affected:

  •  Organizations that use S/MIME encryption with external recipients whose public certificates are hosted in third-party LDAP directories
  •  Admins managing Exchange Online

What will happen:

  • Admins can configure LDAP directories using Exchange Online PowerShell.
  • Users can add LDAP directories in Settings > Mail > S/MIME in new Outlook.
  • When composing an S/MIME encrypted email, users can select recipients from the LDAP directory via the To field. This will directly enable Outlook to retrieve the certificate from the selected LDAP directory. If users add a recipient directly to the ‘To list’, Outlook will scan all available certificate sources, including the configured LDAP directories.
  • LDAP endpoints must not require authentication, as authentication is not currently supported.
  • Screenshot: “Add LDAP directory” option in Settings > Mail > S/MIME and LDAP recipient picker in the To field during message composition:

Add LDAP directory settings in new Outlook.

  • Feature is enabled by default once available.
  • No impact to:
    • Classic Outlook for Windows users
    • Organizations not using LDAP for S/MIME certificate discovery

[What you can do to prepare:]

  • No action is required to enable this feature
  • If your organization uses LDAP for S/MIME certificates:
    • Identify LDAP directory endpoints used by your organization
    • Run the Add-LdapDirectory cmdlet to register a new directory:
    • Add-LdapDirectory -Organization "contoso.com" -Id "corp-ldap" -Host "ldap.corp.com" -Port 636 -UseSsl
    • Configure directories using Exchange Online PowerShell (Add-LdapDirectory).
    • Ensure LDAP endpoints do not require authentication.
    • Communicate guidance to users transitioning to new Outlook: Set up Outlook to use S/MIME encryption | Microsoft Support.

[Action Required] Update scripts using Get-MailDetailTransportRuleReport and Get-MailTrafficPolicyReport
      Category:Exchange Online
      Nummer:MC1323250
      Status:planForChange

      [What and Why:]

To improve clarity, precision, and performance of transport rule reporting, Microsoft is updating the behavior of two Exchange Online reporting cmdlets. Starting July 30, 2026, Get-MailDetailTransportRuleReport and Get-MailTrafficPolicyReport will return transport rule data only when the request explicitly specifies the relevant EventType. This change helps ensure that reporting queries are intentional, predictable, and aligned with how transport rule events are generated and logged.

This update supports enterprise‑ready manageability by reducing ambiguous results and helping administrators build more reliable automation and compliance reporting.

      [Rollout Schedule:]

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in late July 2026 and expect to complete by late July 2026.

      [Impact on Your Organization:]

      Who is affected:

      • Exchange Online administrators

      Platforms/Services:

      • Exchange Online
      • Exchange Online PowerShell

      What will happen:

      • Get-MailDetailTransportRuleReport and Get-MailTrafficPolicyReport will no longer return transport rule results by default.
      • Transport rule data will be returned only when one of the following parameters is explicitly included:
        • -EventType TransportRuleHits
        • -EventType TransportRuleActionHits
      • Scripts or reports that do not include one of these parameters may return empty or incomplete results.
      • This change applies only to these two cmdlets. No other Exchange Online cmdlets are affected.

      [Action Required / Recommendations:]

If your organization uses these cmdlets for transport rule reporting, action is required before July 30, 2026.

Microsoft Purview | eDiscovery: Enhancement of Loop and Copilot Pages in review and export
Category:Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365) Microsoft Purview
      Nummer:MC1323262
      Status:stayInformed

      [What and Why]

Microsoft 365 includes modern collaboration tools — such as Microsoft Loop and Copilot Pages — that allow people to co-author content in real time. These tools store content in cloud-native file formats (.loop and .page files) that are designed for live collaboration but cannot be opened or read outside of their respective applications.

In eDiscovery, when investigators export search results or add items to a review set, Loop and Copilot Pages content arrives in these cloud-native formats. The files cannot be opened in a standard document viewer and are difficult to produce for legal review or regulatory proceedings.

To address this challenge, we are adding an HTML conversion option in Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Premium). When enabled, this setting automatically converts Loop and Copilot Pages files into HTML during export from search or when adding items to a review set.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 561492.

      [Rollout timeline]

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High and DoD): We will begin rolling out in mid-June 2026 and expect to complete by early July 2026.

      [Impact on your organization]

      Who is affected:

Organizations using Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Premium) to manage investigations involving Microsoft Loop or Copilot Pages content.

      Platform:

      Web (Microsoft Purview portal)

      Licensing requirements:

This feature requires a Microsoft 365 E5 or equivalent license that includes Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Premium). Organizations without this license will not see this setting.

      What will happen:

      • What HTML conversion does:
        • When enabled, this setting converts Loop and Copilot Pages files into HTML (HTML | Living Standard) during export from search or when adding items to a review set.
        • HTML files can be opened in any web browser without special software, making the content accessible for production.
        • The converted HTML output preserves all text content and images from the original Loop or Copilot Pages file.
        • The visual appearance may differ from how the content looks inside the Loop or Copilot Pages application.
        • The converted content is fully indexed, which means you can use keyword searches to find specific terms within Loop and Copilot Pages content in your review sets.
      • How to enable it:
        • This capability is controlled by a new setting on the process submission page in the Microsoft Purview portal.
        • When submitting an export or add‑to‑review‑set process, eDiscovery managers or administrators can choose to enable HTML conversion for Loop and Copilot Pages content.
        • The setting is off by default. If you take no action, Loop and Copilot Pages files will continue to export in their original format.
        • Screenshot: Use this setting to convert .loop and .page files to HTML for improved review and searchability:

          user settings

      [Action Required / Recommendations:]

      • Enable the HTML conversion setting when submitting export or add-to-review-set processes in the Microsoft Purview portal.
      • Inform your eDiscovery team and update internal documentation to reflect the new HTML conversion option.

Learn more: Microsoft Purview eDiscovery documentation

      [Compliance considerations]

      Area Explanation
Data processing/storage/access This change alters how existing customer data is processed during export and ingestion into review sets by converting Loop and Copilot Pages content into HTML format. It does not change how the underlying source data is stored in Microsoft 365.
eDiscovery and Content SearchThis change directly enhances eDiscovery (Premium) capabilities by introducing HTML export and enabling keyword searchability of Loop and Copilot Pages content in review sets.
Admin reporting and compliance visibility Improved searchability and review experience in review sets may indirectly affect how administrators analyze and review content, but it does not introduce new reporting surfaces.

Dynamics 365 Contact Center – Automatically handle waiting conversations when queues close or become unstaffed
      Category:Dynamics 365 Apps
      Nummer:MC1323827
      Status:stayInformed
We are announcing the ability to automatically handle waiting conversations when queues close or become unstaffed in Dynamics 365 Contact Center. This feature will reach general availability on June 20, 2026.

      How does this affect me?
This feature enhances queue handling by intelligently detecting two key scenarios where conversations would otherwise remain unserved:

Queue transitions to Out of Operating Hours: The system continuously monitors active conversations that entered a queue before closing time. If the queue transitions to out of operating hours while conversations are still waiting, it automatically applies admin-defined overflow actions. Customers can be guided to leave a voicemail, request a callback, or be transferred to another available queue, ensuring a smooth end-of-day experience without manual intervention.

No support reps are logged in: The system evaluates real-time support rep availability. If all support reps assigned to a queue are logged out, it immediately triggers the configured fallback action instead of waiting for in-queue overflow timers. This is especially valuable in scenarios such as mass logout events, unexpected breaks, or holidays not captured in operating hours.

Admins can configure both scenarios using natural language prompts through Conversation Orchestration, enabling fine-grained, control over queue behavior. This ensures customers are always routed to the best possible outcome, even when direct support is unavailable.

Dynamics 365 Project Operations – Enable Project Revenue recognition using cost estimate instead of EAC
      Category:Dynamics 365 Apps
      Nummer:MC1323835
      Status:stayInformed
We are announcing the ability to enable Project Revenue recognition using the percentage of completion based on the cost estimate instead of the changing estimate at completion (EAC) in Dynamics 365 Project Operations. This feature reached public preview on May 11, 2026.

      How does this affect me?
Turning on the Enable Project Revenue recognition using the cost estimate instead of the EAC setting bases percentage of completion (PoC) on the cost estimate rather than the changing estimate at completion (EAC).
      • Uses the original project estimate for PoC calculations to deliver stable, predictable revenue without EAC-driven fluctuations.
      • Anchors revenue recognition to a fixed baseline to improve transparency and boosts confidence in reported project financials.
      • Reduces reliance on changing forecasts to minimize rework and exceptions during month-end close.
      • Provides clear traceability from estimate to recognition to strengthen audit readiness and compliance.
      • Aligns revenue with initial project expectations to enhance visibility into true project performance and profitability.
      • Creates smoother revenue trends across reporting periods to enable better executive decision-making and financial planning.
      • Standardizes how teams evaluate project progress to support consistent financial processes across the organization.

Dynamics 365 Project Operations – Enable subcontractor vendor invoice matching to actuals
      Category:Dynamics 365 Apps
      Nummer:MC1323856
      Status:stayInformed
We are announcing the ability to match actual costs when generating vendor invoices for receipts associated with subcontracting purchase orders in Dynamics 365 Project Operations. This feature reached public preview on May 11, 2026.

      How does this affect me?
If you use Project Operations integrated with an ERP and enable the Enable subcontractor vendor invoice matching to actuals setting for Project Operations integrated with ERP, vendor invoices from subcontracting PO receipts can be matched to the actual costs recorded for those receipts. Some of the key capabilities are:
      • Match subcontractor vendor invoices to recorded actuals.
      • Validate invoice amounts using receipt and actual cost data.
      • Reduce manual reconciliation and invoicing errors.
      • Streamline subcontracting procure-to-pay.

Dynamics 365 Contact Center – Protect customer experience on direct inward dialing lines with overflow actions
      Category:Dynamics 365 Apps
      Nummer:MC1323940
      Status:stayInformed
We are announcing the ability to protect the customer experience on direct inward dialing lines with overflow actions in Dynamics 365 Contact Center. This feature will reach general availability on June 20, 2026.

      How does this affect me?
This feature leverages Conversation Orchestration to detect key related events such as the user being busy, offline, rejecting the call, or failing to answer to apply administrator-defined fallback actions.

Administrators can configure natural language playbooks using Conversation Orchestration at the global or profile level to specify what should happen when a direct inward dialing call cannot be completed.

Supported actions include offering a direct callback, sending callers to voicemail, transferring to another queue or external number, or ending the call.

Dynamics 365 Contact Center – Update to provide greater granularity to session rejection reasons
      Category:Dynamics 365 Apps
      Nummer:MC1324072
      Status:stayInformed
We are announcing that beginning on June 8, 2026, with full availability by June 31, 2026, Dynamics 365 Contact Center will now track session rejection reasons with greater granularity. Previously, all automatic session rejection reasons were all recorded under a single rejection category, “Agent Reject”. This could make it challenging for supervisors to distinguish between representative-initiated rejections and system-triggered ones. This update separates session rejections into distinct, clearly labelled reasons, giving supervisors accurate visibility into why sessions are being rejected.

      How does this affect me?
Supervisors will notice a change in the sessions rejected and session rejection rate metrics across both Realtime and Historic analytics dashboards. This metric will now reflect only sessions that were manually rejected by a representative and exclude system-triggered rejections. Additionally, session rejection reasons are now logged within Azure Application Insights under the Traces table, within the CSRAssignment sub-scenario.

The session rejection reasons are defined as follows:
      1. AgentReject — The representative manually rejected the notification for an assigned conversation.
      2. MaximumSessionsReached — The representative had 10 conversation sessions open in a single browser tab.
      3. VoiceConnectivityProblem — A network issue prevented connection to the voice SDK during a voice call.
      4. FailedToAssignDueToSystemError — An internal system error triggered the rejection automatically.
      5. CallTimedOut — Connectivity or browser-related issues caused the incoming conversation to automatically rejected.
