Microsoft Teams: Approvals Graph APIs public preview

This Microsoft Teams feature update provides a public preview of Microsoft Approvals Graph APIs in the Approvals app. This set of APIs can be used to programmatically create and manage approvals. This new capability makes it easier to hook line of business apps into the Microsoft Approvals Hub.

Approvals app is a way to streamline all of your requests and processes with your team or partners. 

Using these new APIs, developers can now:

  • Create new approvals.
  • Manage existing approvals.
  • Delete approvals.

[When this will happen:]

General Availability: We will begin rolling out early June 2024 and expect to complete by mid-June 2024.

[How this will affect your organization:]

Developers will now be able to use Approvals Graph API’s to programmatically create and manage approvals, making creation and maintenance more efficient within your organization.

This rollout will happen automatically with no admin action required. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.

Microsoft Outlook: Microsoft Copilot app in new Outlook for Windows and Outlook for the web

Coming soon: The same Microsoft Copilot experience you can get from the Microsoft Teams app, at copilot.microsoft.com (“Work mode”), and in many other places soon will be available in new Microsoft Outlook for Windows and Microsoft Outlook for the web. This feature is enabled by default for any users with a qualifying Copilot license.

Microsoft Viva: Regional announcements for frontline workers in Viva Connections

Regional operations managers can now send targeted announcements based on additional attributes including location, job code, and department to frontline workers on a time-sensitive basis.

Standard Release (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out early May 2024 and we expect to finish rollout by early June 2024.  

[How this will affect your organization:]

If your organization has set up the Hierarchy and Deployed Theater Accountability Software (DTAS) configuration on Microsoft Teams and enabled the setting for Regional filtering in Microsoft Viva Connections, regional managers will be able to send out announcements targeted based on additional attributes including job, location, and department to frontline workers.

[What you need to do to prepare:]

To take advantage of attribute-based targeting based on the three properties:

  1. set up the Hierarchy and DTAS configuration on Microsoft Teams.
  2. Turn on the setting for Regional filtering. This setting is available in the section for Manage announcements in Viva Connections or on your home site.

We recommended that you share information regarding this upcoming feature with the corporate communicators, frontline managers, and admins so they can effectively use this feature.

Microsoft Intune In Development for May 2024 is now available

How does this affect me?

The In development page provides a list of features in upcoming releases of Microsoft Intune to assist in your readiness and planning. The list has now been updated. You’ll start seeing these changes in the next month or in a subsequent release.

What do I need to prepare for this change?

You can inform your IT staff and helpdesk of the upcoming changes listed on this page. Plan to update your user guidance, if you feel any of these features would be important to your users.

Coming soon for Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP): Enhance your DLP incident management with the new send email notification remediation action and customize email templates in Purview DLP and Defender. Use dynamic variables and tokens to easily create and maintain consistent and efficient email communications, complete with an audit trail.

Utilize these email templates to take actions such as:

  • Informing end-users or their managers about incidents, severity, or the analyst’s recommendations.
  • Managing remediation efforts by sending follow-up notifications to end users with due dates.
  • Keeping analysts informed about incident updates and assignments.
  • Notifying approvers of pending items with ease.

1. Go to DLP Settings (on top right on any DLP Overview or Policies or Alerts pages in Microsoft Purview -> Email templates

2. Create an email template. Leverage tokens for email body and subject as much as possible.

3. You can click on the template name to see the details on the right side.

4. Go to DLP Alert in Microsoft Purview or Microsoft Defender -> Event -> Actions-> Send email notification -> Create a new template or choose an existing email template -> Preview & send

5. Click on “Send email” or Save changes & Send email

6. Email recipients will receive an email
